Andrew is an Entomologist, and taxonomist specialised in the identification and naming of insects, most particularly, but not exclusively, dealing with flies (Diptera). With thirty year’s experience as a fly taxonomist, Andrew has written approximately 60 scientific papers and described more than 60 new species.
During the course of research, he has examined thousands of specimens from all over the World. In addition, he has collected extensively in the field, in countries as widespread as England (UK), Finland, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, Scotland (UK), South Africa, Swaziland and Switzerland and Wales (UK).
The breadth of knowledge obtained during Andrew’s broad application of taxonomic research, curation and identification has been applied to projects in biodiversity, conservation, ecology, environmental impact assessment, faunistic analysis, forensic, medical and public health work in Australia, Kenya, Seychelles, South Africa, St Helena and Scotland.
Andrew is Entomological editor for ZooNova.
