Travel time can be negotiated but it is simply easier to account for this on the daily rate.
Travelling expenses are extra by presentation of receipts.

Five categories of work are contracted:
1. Commercial, Borough Council and Environment Agencies - Household and pest control
2. Ecological, conservation and environmental studies
3. Legal Services: Criminal and Civil cases
4. Pure Research
5. Statistical analysis
These are treated in detail below.
Commercial and household services £50 per hour.
Straight forward, single species identifications are usually completed within an hour. Additional time is required for photography and report writing.
For bulk samples, please note that our specimen rate applies:
Per species (or taxon) encountered £10
Plus Per specimen identified £5
Option 1: Per specimen rate £3 per specimen
Option 2: Per sample rate (mixed taxa)
Per species (or taxon) encountered £50
Plus Per sample £15
Option 3: Per taxon rate (i.e. pre sorted)
Per species (or taxon) encountered £10
Plus Per specimen identified £5
Most mixed samples containing an unknown number of species or specimens. It is preferable to 'clean' the samples prior to contracting FlyEvidence, so that all vegetative materials and debris are removed leaving only the taxa requiring analysis in the sample. This saves FlyEvidence time and ultimately costs less per contract. An additional £10 per tube is charged for ‘dirty’ samples.
Co-Authorship in publications arising from the research supported by our contracts are welcome, but is optional and at the discretion of the principle investigator.
Acknowledgement of FlyEvidence is, however, required in all publications resulting from contracted services please.

Telephonic discussion and (non-legal) advice
(£10 per 10 minutes or part thereof) up to a total £60 per hour
Travel time £40 per hour

Daily rate (holding fee for 8 hours*) £400
Site visits and Fieldwork £80 per hour
Bench fee £80 per hour
Mortuary attendance £80 per hour
Confidential legal reports and advice £80 per hour
Precognition statement £100 per hour
Court attendance (day one) £500 per day
Subsequent days of court attendance after day one £350 per day
*The daily rate is a holding fee exclusive of meetings and site visit, charged either side of these activities to cover time away from regular work activities.
Fees for international work (i.e. outside of the UK) can be negotiated on a project by project basis, including transport and accommodation costs.
For the most part the fee structure will remain as stated, but travel and subsistence will need discussion.

Full co-authorship in peer reviewed journals
No financial exchange, but co-Authorship in publications arising from the research is required.
This option for insect identification service best suits research projects for which funding has not been granted.
Students, please discuss your intentions with your project supervisor and ensure that a Dissertation Consent Form is completed prior to contacting FlyEvidence.
FlyEvidence provides statistical analysis using the GNU software PSPP although spreadsheets (MS Excel or Numbers) may also be used where data analysis is straight-forward.
Please select from the following options.
Option 1: Research projects with targeted publication in peer reviewed journals.
£50 per hour (£375 per day)
Please note that due to the complexity of data analysis, it is well worth 'cleaning' your data prior to contract, so that there are no gaps or anomalies.
Often the presentation of data is not as the recipient software requires, therefore requiring re-working of the data for the PSPP format.
Co-Authorship in publications arising from the research are welcome, but at this rate, is not required; acknowledgement of contracted work is required please.
Option 2: Student projects, undergraduate dissertations, postgraduate Masters and PhD.
£30 per hour
Students, please discuss your intentions with your project supervisor and ensure that a Dissertation Consent Form is completed prior to contacting FlyEvidence. This ensures that University regulations are adhered to and that the contract is within the requirements of your degree. FlyEvidence is unwilling to accept student contracts without prior supervisor consent.
Please note that due to the complexity of data analysis, it is well worth 'cleaning' your data prior to contract, so that there are no gaps or anomalies.
Often the presentation of data is not as the recipient software requires, therefore requiring re-working of the data for the PSPP format.
Please acknowledge of contracted work in the final dissertation and in any publications arising from the analysis.
